      <image:title>Jess - Jess Opacic - Director and Choreographer</image:title>
<image:caption>For the last 15 years Jessica has been shaping the lives of children and adults through dance. Born in Auckland Jessica studied multiple genres of dance until she moved to Melbourne to further her dance education as a full-time student. During these studies, Jessica was offered a contract with Black Grace Dance Company and joined them for their 2007 tour of their work “Amata”. After successfully completing her full-time studies, a Diploma in Dance (Performance) and becoming a qualified fitness professional, she realised her passion lay in dance education and so began her teaching journey. Jess has taught in diverse sectors from preparing students for large scale international competitions to working in remote towns in Australia and in programs created for disadvantaged youth. Jess has been involved primarily in the education sector as a choreographer, working across multiple schools and putting together performances with casts of 800+ performers. She toured internationally as the choreographer for the Australian Girls’ Choir and worked with Aboriginal Youth in remote towns in Australia. Jess has recently completed her Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies with Distinction through the Royal Academy of Dance (London). Jess is an approachable and committed dance teacher with a particular love for classical and contemporary ballet and believes the arts are a vital aspect of education. Her dedication to fostering young dancers has led her to joining with Meghan Rowe with a joint vision of providing performance opportunities for young dancers in a collaborative environment. <image:title>Meaghan - Meaghan Rowe - Director and Choreographer</image:title>
<image:caption>Meaghan has been immersed in the arts since a very young age. Her dance journey began with Paula Hunt in Wellington, who was instrumental in nurturing her love for classical ballet. For many years Meaghan trained only in ballet, before her eyes were opened to modern dance as a Contemporary Associate at the New Zealand School of Dance as a teenager. Unsure which avenue to pursue, Meaghan took a break from the dance world to continue with academics, using her time to gain a Bachelor of Arts and Honours degree in International Relations from Victoria University of Wellington. However, at the completion of her studies she knew that she must return to dance. Meaghan then gained her Royal Academy of Dance teaching certificate with Robyn Sinclair in Dunedin in 2010. The next few years were spent dancing, teaching, and exploring in Europe; meeting her mentor Claudine Merkel (John Cranko Schule, Royal Ballet of Flanders) and training with the Münster Tanz Theatre. It was during this time that Meaghan fell in love with contemporary ballet, enraptured by the concept of manipulating the classical form to achieve an exciting new aesthetic for the modern audience. After relocating to Auckland in 2014, Meaghan began her own dance school while also tutoring as a classical ballet coach at Unitec. Then in 2021, she decided it was time to take her passion for contemporary ballet in a new direction, by joining with friend and colleague Jess Opacic in the creation of The Classical Collab. <image:title>Ariana - Ariana Hond - Classical Tutor</image:title>
<image:caption>Ariana grew up dancing in Auckland, training with Mt Eden Ballet Academy. In addition, she was fortunate to be a classical Junior Associate with the New Zealand School of Dance and attended summer intensives on scholarship in America, England and Australia. Ariana competed in many local and international competitions, such as the RAD Genée where she won the silver medal and audience award, the Alana Haines Awards where she was a junior winner and senior finalist, and the YAGP as a New York finalist. At 16, Ariana moved to Brisbane to join the pre-professional program at Queensland Ballet. Within 3 months she performed in her first professional production, Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, as part of the corps de ballet. After two years with Queensland Ballet, Ariana joined Melbourne City Ballet where she performed in a number of new contemporary works, as well as classical soloist roles like Aurora, Lilac Fairy and Carmen. Over the years Ariana has been a guest performer across Australasia, and has had the opportunity to learn from an incredible range of teachers, choreographers and directors. In 2018, Ariana decided to change career paths, and before coming home travelled to China to teach English (and also taught some ballet). In 2019 she began studying full-time at the University of Auckland, following on from part-time study with the University of Melbourne. She has now graduated with a BA(Hons) in Psychology with First Class Honours. Ariana works as a community researcher with a Kaupapa Māori research centre and as the Tuākana Coordinator for Psychology at the University of Auckland.
Ariana continues to guest teach in Tāmaki Makaurau and occasionally dances in a freelance capacity. She really enjoys being involved in passing on knowledge to future generations of dancers and is excited to see the work that Classical Collab creates!</image:caption>

She trained pre-professionally in Sydney at Tanya Pearson Academy and upon graduation moved to complete her training at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, Netherlands. Over the following two and a half years living in Holland she spent time with the Dutch National Ballet Junior Company and Netherlands Dance Theatre. Madi had the opportunity to work with and perform works by world renown choreographers in both classical and modern repertoire including Hans van Manen, Jiri Kylián, and Crystal Pite. She also performed leading roles in ballets such as Giselle and The Nutcracker. One of Madi’s career highlights was premiering a new full length neo-classical ballet, Diamante by Katarina Wester, together with Julien Keulen (now with Swedish National Ballet) which was choreographed on them in 2017. Madi returned home to New Zealand at the end of 2018 to pursue her other passions within the dance industry. She went on to complete a Master of Dance Studies at the University of Auckland, centered within choreographic research. She also fell in love with producing, and after multiple years of freelance producing for artists across Aoetearoa, Madi joined Foster Group Dance as Creative Producer in 2022, where she continues to work closely with Artistic Director Sarah Foster-Sproull on the company’s artistic growth and development. Madi is also a ballet teacher and a group fitness instructor. She is so grateful for all the incredible people she gets to meet working throughout the dance industry and beyond.</image:caption>
