Jess Opacic - Director and Choreographer

For the last 15 years Jessica has been shaping the lives of children and adults through dance. Born in Auckland Jessica studied multiple genres of dance until she moved to Melbourne to further her dance education as a full-time student.

During these studies, Jessica was offered a contract with Black Grace Dance Company and joined them for their 2007 tour of their work “Amata”.

After successfully completing her full-time studies, a Diploma in Dance (Performance) and becoming a qualified fitness professional, she realised her passion lay in dance education and so began her teaching journey. Jess has taught in diverse sectors from preparing students for large scale international competitions to working in remote towns in Australia and in programs created for disadvantaged youth.

Jess has been involved primarily in the education sector as a choreographer, working across multiple schools and putting together performances with casts of 800+ performers. She toured internationally as the choreographer for the Australian Girls’ Choir and worked with Aboriginal Youth in remote towns in Australia.

Jess has recently completed her Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies with Distinction through the Royal Academy of Dance (London).

Jess is an approachable and committed dance teacher with a particular love for classical and contemporary ballet and believes the arts are a vital aspect of education.

Her dedication to fostering young dancers has led her to joining with Meghan Rowe with a joint vision of providing performance opportunities for young dancers in a collaborative environment.
